Community resilience committee grant

The Select Board formed the Community Resilience Committee authorizing them to work with the Center for an Ecology Based Economy (C.E.B.E.) located in Norway, Maine, for the purpose of applying for a $75,000 grant from the Maine Office of Community Affairs. This grant was established by the State to provide funds that would improve conditions within Maine towns that could be affected by climate change. The committee held pubic workshops with residents seeking their input on priorities. With the approval of all 3 SB members, they applied for the installation of heat pumps/mini splits in the entire Town Office and 2/3’s of the Community Center in order to improve energy efficiency, the comfort of town employees and those using these spaces. These units operate at a much lower decibel level thus reducing background noise that was an ongoing problem during meetings. The entire cost of this work was covered by the grant.
